HOW DOES MY SUPPORT HELP?
Through the great support given by all people to Diabetes Buzz Day, over the last 11 years, we have been able to achieve many wonderful projects that have helped to improve the health and enhance the lives of people living with and at risk of diabetes.
Some of these include:
- The development of Professor Bumble Bee’s Guide to
Type 1 Diabetes DVD.
The DVD offers simple and educational information to children with Type 1 Diabetes and their parents about what happens in the body when a person has diabetes.
It also talks about how to manage Type 1 diabetes including injections and blood glucose checks. The DVD was so successful in English that it was translated into Spanish, Tagalog, French and Vietnamese
- Our funding in perpetuity of a Chair of Diabetes at the
University of Sydney's new Centre of Obesity, Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease. The chair will improve the quailty of and pace at which programs, research, prevention and treatment of diabetes are implemented in NSW and across the country.
- The production of a range of publications for those living at risk of diabetes of all ages to provide management and healthy living advice. Member publications include: Diabetes Connect, the kids magazine - JellyBean Scene and teens magazine - You said what?!
- In addition to these we also publish:
Invigorate - a guide to health and wellbeing
Diabetes Now Newsletter - containing diabetes update for Health Profesionals.
- We could not have done so many great things without you!
So we encourage you, your friends and family to take part in Buzz Day 2011 to help us in our mission to prevent diabetes and its complications.
